Treasure-seeking: Bitter cold or Winter Wonderland?!

“…Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old.”- Franz Kafka

If ever there was a time to complain in IL, it would be now! Here in central IL, it is below 10 degrees, feels about 20 degrees colder than that, the roads are slick, the sidewalks are more like ice rinks, and the wind alone could make you want to turn around and walk back inside. However, I am reminded that regardless of the bitter cold weather, there is always something to be thankful for. Some days we just have to be better treasure seekers than others!

Today as I look outside my window, I see beauty. I see a frosted Winter Wonderland of ice and snow. I see ice crystals on branches, which is a rare and beautiful sight! So, instead of complaining about how cold it is today, I will choose to enjoy this day, delight in the ice crystals, delight in the opportunity to “skate” to my car, and smile as I sing along to the song “Winter Wonderland” as I get ready this morning.

May we all become gifted “treasure-seekers” this winter as we seek to find the beauty in the mundane and choose joy along the journey!
